Car Insurance MINI (Car Insurance). Any car radios that have scan mode?Any car radios that have scan mode? My pioneer model broke, so I want to buy a new car radio, possibly with HD radio. I'm looking for a radio that actually has a scan button where you can actually push it one time and it automatically goes from station to station, stopping a few seconds on each station across the whole band. The radio that broke as well as the radios in the stores seem to only have the "seek" button where you have to constantly push it to go through all the stations which is inconvenient if your driving out of town looking for stations. Pioneer sent me a message saying they only have the seek button now. This 'non HD' one has both preset scan (PS) and auto scan (AS). 99.00 http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CZ200/Clarion-CZ200.html?tp=5684&nvpair=FFBrand|Clarion&tab=features_and_specs here the radio is http://www.autodvdgps.com http://www.qualir.com Auto parts : PCV Hose Acura 1995 . Friendly And Unfriendly Railfan Friendly Train Members? Friendly And Unfriendly Railfan Friendly Train Members? since the time CN purchased EJE railroad around northern illinois and northern indiana conductors and more had become unfriendly and I had been curious since each railroad I had seen such as some shortline each member had been friendly but around each enormous railroad each member would be unfriendly. How come on a shortline railroad each member is friendly but on an enormous one each member is unfriendly? I do not think this is me but I had heard more and more see this as some enormous railroad such as Canadian National. I used to railfan the EJE around Illinois and each train would sound the horn and wave but since CN purchased EJE each member would not even stare at me for some reason even the same train crew that used to honk on the EJE that is on the CN discontinued to sound the horn and wave for some reason. I know this would sound weird but does some railroad tell some to mind there business and stick with the train service other than wave to some railfan since it sure seemed like this. out of months and months of filmed trains there had been one train crew that is nice and there on some local train that I see once each weekend and over time we had become friends kind of but other than that each other train member the most each would do would stare at me weird like what blank are you doing I know I will get some answers like: oh come on! not each train member will honk for you and each person is different but the same train crews that used to wave and sound the horns for me back when EJE had been around discontinued to do so once CN purchased them. Is it just not as fun as to work for an enormous railroad than it is to work on some shortline. are they stressed beyond belief from 12 hours of work? car insurance. MINI . How to Set the Initial Timing on a ChevyA Chevrolet has three timing settings. Setting the initial or base timing requires that all the other timing advance systems be disabled. These include the vacuum, or engine load advance, as well as the centrifugal advance. The base timing is the initial starting point that remains constant. The other timing advance features are variable depending on how the car is being driven. Difficulty:Moderately Challenging Instructions Things You'll Need Timing light Wrench set Step by Step : 1 Raise the hood of the Chevrolet and disconnect the vacuum line that goes to the distributor. Plug the line with a golf tee or something similar. Use a wrench to loosen the distributor mounting bolt so the distributor can be moved by hand. This will disable the engine "load" timing. 2 Install a timing light by clipping the red and black power connections to the car's positive and negative battery posts. Then, attach the inductive pick-up lead to the "number 1" spark plug wire. Refer to the service manual to identify the correct wire, but as a rule, it will be the right front wire on V-6 and V-8 engines, and the first wire in line on Straight-6 engines. 3 Locate the degree marks on the harmonic balancer, which is behind the front engine pulley that is attached to the crankshaft. Also, locate the "V" pointer that is used to reference the proper degrees scribed on the balancer. Most Chevrolet V-8 engines have a base timing of 5 to 8 degrees. Refer to a service manual for base timing specifications for your particular vehicle. 4 Start the engine and shine the timing light at the degree marks on the harmonic balancer. The light will pulse in sync with the "number 1" spark plug firing the first cylinder and illuminate the degree marks on the balancer. Do not increase the engine speed. This keeps the centrifugal advance constant. Turn the distributor until the firing event occurs precisely with the specifications. As the distributor is turned, the degrees will appear to move forward or backward in relation to the pointer. Tighten the bolt when the base timing is set. Tips & Warnings Do not loosen the distributor hold-down bolt too much. The distributor needs some resistance so it will remain in place when it is turned back and forth to set the timing.
MINI . Instructions for Timing a 1972 Chevy PickupHaving the correct ignition timing on your 1972 Chevrolet pickup is essential for optimum power and fuel economy. Late, or "retarded" timing results in poor power, acceleration, and fuel economy. Early, or "advanced" timing results in "pinging" under acceleration. Most older engines have a timing specification that is slightly advanced. This means that the spark plug fires just before the piston reaches top-dead-center. This is necessary because the pistons are moving up and down very fast and the fuel in the cylinder needs to be ignited a little bit ahead of time so that the piston can take full of vantage of combustion. Timing specifications very from engine to engine, so you will need to know the timing specification for your particular engine. Regardless of which engine you have in your Chevy pickup, the actual procedure for setting the timing is the same. Difficulty:Moderately Easy Instructions Things You'll Need Shop rags White chalk Wrench Set Pencil Inductive timing light Step by Step : 1 Park the pickup on a flat, paved surface and set the parking brake. 2 Find your timing marks. Move to the passenger side of the pickup and look down at the crankshaft pulley. You'll see a small metal tab attached to the timing cover that sets over the harmonic balancer on the crankshaft. The crankshaft pulley is bolted to the balancer. Wipe the tab with a shop rag so you can see the numbers stamped in it. The numbers will read something like "BEFORE 10-6-2-0-2-6 AFTER." Different engines will have different numbers but they will all be in the before and after type arrangement. 3 Look for a notch in the harmonic balancer. If you can't see it, use the ignition to bump the starter, then look for the notch. It may take a couple of tries. Rub some white chalk into the notch to make it easier to see when you're adjusting the timing. 4 Move to the engine compartment and use a wrench to loosen the bolt on the distributor hold down clamp. Only loosen the bolt enough so that when you try to turn the distributor it is very hard to turn. You want the hold down clamp to still be pressing on it a little bit. If you have the clamp too lose, when you try to start the engine the distributor will rotate by itself. 5 Pull the rubber vacuum line off of the vacuum advance on the distributor. Plug the end of the line with the tip of a pencil. 6 Hook up your timing light by clipping the red and black wires to the battery terminals, with the red wire on the positive terminal and the black wire on the negative terminal. Clip the inductive pickup onto the number one spark plug wire. On an inline-six cylinder engine this will be the first to spark plug wire on the front of the engine. For a V-8 engine it will be the first spark plug wire on the driver's side of the engine. 7 Start the engine and take the timing light over to the passenger side of the engine, being careful not to let any of the wires on the light get caught in the fan or belts and pulleys. Shine the light down on the timing marker. The light will flash every time the No. 1 spark plug fires and make the notch in the balancer appear to stand still below the marker. 8 Turn the distributor slightly to adjust the timing. As you turn the distributor you will see the notch in the harmonic balancer change its position relative to the marker. For general reference, the most common timing setting for the inline-six cylinder is 4 degrees before top-dead-center, and eight degrees before top-dead-center for the V8 engine. With the timing set, turn off the engine, tighten the bolt on the distributor will down clamp, plug the vacuum advance line back into the distributor vacuum advance, and remove the timing light. *Carry a lantern, a large battery-operated light, a couple of milk cartons filled with wax and a wick, or, as a last resort, a couple of flares in the trunk for this kind of emergency. Troubleshooting the Problem After you're safely off the road and ready to deal with the situation, try to view what happened in dietary terms: Your vehicle lives on a mixture of air, fuel, and fire — if it won't go, it's not getting one of the following ingredients. Air Air is simple — and probably not the problem. Your vehicle gets its air through the air cleaner. Unless the air filter inside the air cleaner is totally clogged, your engine should be getting enough air to keep it going. Your choke or throttle may be stuck in the closed position, which could keep your car from breathing properly. To find out whether this is the problem, do the following.
